Themed Events

Carnival – For obvious reasons, this one tops our list.  A carnival theme is a great way to tie in decor, games, rides, activities, and even the fun foods!  Performers can be walking around or staged in an area putting on a show.  The smell of popcorn and cotton candy along with red and white striped carnival tents sets the mood perfectly.  Top it off with some fun music and you have yourself a celebration that your guests will remember for a lifetime!

Neon Glow Party – The neon theme has always been popular at raves or music events and it has recently found itself trickling into other event styles. This has seen the development of ‘color runs’, which involves attendees having neon paint and powder thrown at them during a 5K run. Glow parties are popular for Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Birthday parties, corporate events, and all other types of celebrations.  With cool colorful lighting, neon black light responsive decor, and activities such as blacklight mini golf, or LED light up arcade games, a glow party could really set your event apart from the rest.

Decades themes –  Set your event to take place in a particular era.  1920’s flapper style events are all the rage with their classic black and gold decor along with casino equipment, maybe a jazz band, or a DJ.  Take your guests to the 1950’s with a classic rock n’ roll sock hop.  Your guests will be amazed when Elvis enters the building and performs a one night only show just for you!  Get the colorful atmosphere of a 1960’s and 1970’s psychedelic party, or even bust out the old scrunchies and jean jackets for the ultimate 80’s theme.   Setting your event in a certain era is an easy way to set the atmosphere and get your guests involved.

Casino Night – Having traditional casino games such as roulette, blackjack, craps and poker can add an exclusive feel to an event, making the décor and color schemes very flexible. Have waiters and waitresses dressed as dealers for a quirky uniform idea and use lighting to set the tone and atmosphere. An interesting casino wedding theme idea is to add the couple’s faces to printed pretend cash or chips for guests to spend instead of real money which can be made available at the reception entrance or in goody bags at the table setting. Add another level by including a derby horse race where guests can bet on horse races being played on a large screen.

Luau or Carribean  – This theme is great indoors or out.  With grass skirting, tropical leis, pineapples, and endless opportunity for fun, a luau might be the perfect theme for any picnic or other type of event.  Host limbo contests, get a conga line going, serve tropical drinks from a tiki bar, and more!  The possibilities are endless.

Hoedown / Western Theme – This folk dancing event involves country themes, rustic décor including hay barrel seating, bunting and string lights but always make sure you have a dance floor! You could also include mechanical bull-riding or for an authentic experience, add pony rides, a petting zoo and even some western-themed carnival games into the activities.

A Night at the Movies –Red carpets, glitz, glamour, black tie and ball gowns are all signs of a Hollywood A-list event! Many like to take this further and do an Oscar-themed event with golden statues which can be useful if your event involves prize giving. You could also include a step and repeat banner to go with the red carpet and hire photographers for the evening to give attendees arriving that important, paparazzi welcome or set up a photo booth. You can also narrow down and base your event on one particular movie or even a movie genre such as horror, or mystery.

Retro Arcade – Who doesn’t have a blast at an arcade? Opt for retro games such as Pacman, classic pinball machines, air hockey, foosball, darts, or even ping pong for attendees to play with and add in themed food & décor to complement the games. Darkened colors and lighting is suitable for this gamer-based event and you could opt for the bigger machines as well as older handheld devices.

Superheroes – A popular theme because of Marvel’s movie adaptation of many popular comics and stories, which can allow you to choose from a diverse array of color schemes and characters from the dark tones of Batman to the green anger of Hulk. You could also make things more interesting by asking attendees to create their own superheroes and have a prize for the best one.

Holidays – If you are planning a holiday event, your theme is basically chosen for you already!  From Christmas to the 4th of July, Mardi Gras to Cinco De Mayo, every holiday boasts its own theme, color scheme, and ideas.
